Adolescent Counselling

Empowering teens ages 13-18 to live full and happy lives by helping them to build the necessary skills to transform the root of what's keeping them stuck, and empower them through their adolescent years and beyond.

Our Approach

Adolescence years can particularly be challenging for both parents and teens. Most parents are able to identify warning signs but feel shut out by silence, tension, or arguments. Adolescent counselling provides a safe place for teens to process thoughts and feelings. Working closely with a therapist, life skills are developed such as self-confidence, emotion regulation, communication, and self-awareness.

Being a teen is not easy, especially since they frequently receive mixed messages about where they should focus their time, how they should feel, and whom they should trust, all the while being told to be more responsible and grow up. Teens need support more than ever in a world filled with confusion, invalidation, lack of accountability, and unlimited distractions. We also recognize that peer and social influences or challenges can also be impacting you. Your counsellor will work with you and your child to foster a trusting relationship that will give you a safe place to discuss your challenges and learn skills to finding your footing in life. We offer in person Counselling and Psychotherapy services located in Kelowna, BC, or you can opt for your sessions to be online.

Steps we take:

Sometimes all it takes is having an outside person to reinforce what you’ve been trying to get through to your teen all along. Sometimes there are deeper issues occurring that need a tranced professional to address. Both are excellent reasons to seek a counsellor for your adolescent or teen.

In adolescent counselling, we like to include the parent (with the consent of the adolescent) because we know you are the most important person in your child’s life. Together we will create treatment goals, and then your child will meet one on one with the counsellor to address their concerns and meet these goals. While you will remain actively involved in the treatment process it is important to know that confidentiality will be maintained as it is important for your child to feel safe sharing with us.
